Whew! What a week it has been — and it’s only Tuesday! It’s melt-your-face-off hot outside, and we have corn pickin’ and pickle cannin’ operations in full swing. My husband is the pickle master around our house, and I’m looking forward to sharing his super secret spicy pickle recipe with you, just as soon as I can pry it out of him. Don’t worry, I have my ways. Here are a few things that are making me happy this week — hope they make you happy, too!
Fashion Dads is an utterly hilarious Instagram account that documents Dad Wear of all stripes (and plaids, and khakis…). It also wins the Internet in the “Best Use of Hashtags” Category. Follow immediately!
Go Set a Watchman – Harper Lee’s follow-up to the iconic To Kill a Mockingbird — came out today, and is swirling in controversy. Are you going to read it? Some people say no, but not sure how I can resist.
I devoured every Nancy Drew mystery as a kid, and I never knew that Carolyn Keene was a pseudonym for many authors! Read the story of one such author, Millie Wirt Benson, in this awesome article. Nancy Drew is probably the least embarrassing series I read a girl, as compared to Babysitters Club and Sweet Valley High books. I always dreamed I’d wake up one day with the fashion sense of Claudia Kishi, the smarts of Nancy Drew, and the sex appeal of Jessica Wakefield and take over the universe. (Spoiler alert: Never happened.)
I could have used these strawberry recipes last week when my daughter put THREE cartons of strawberries in my grocery cart, and because I had already ask the clerk to put back the bag of Oreos she’d also pilfered, I went ahead and bought the damn things.
I’m just going to say it – Clown contouring is horrifying. Yes, it comes out pretty, but is it worth the nightmares?
Amazon and Wal-Mart are battling for our business this week. I’m a sale junkie (and Prime member), but I’m going to try hard NOT to take the bait.
And, finally, how to hang your art with my favorite interior designer, Emily Henderson. Great advice!
