Happy Tuesday, ya’ll! Hope you had a safe and happy Fourth, and managed to avoid setting any of your most valuable body parts on fire. I discovered my daughter is TOTALLY into fireworks, especially sparklers, thought I quickly discovered she had no regard for the sanctity of personal space while using them.
Here are some things I’m loving this week.
I recently found this list of 12 things you can make with a waffle iron that are NOT waffles. Absolutely genius. I’m going to make the “waffled falafel” immediately, just so I can use the words “waffled falafel” in as many scenarios as possible. What’s for dinner? Waffled falafel. What did you have for dinner last night? Waffled falafel. What’s the most linguistically pleasing meal you’ve ever made? Waffled falafel! Nope. Still not tired of it! WAFFLED FALAFEL!
Go TEAM USA! I know absolutely nothing of soccer, except they put me at goalie in elementary school because I was the chubby kid. But that loooooong goal from the middle of the field still made me all like WHA??!! I was so pumped for Carli Lloyd and USA Women’s Soccer… until I read this. Grrrrr.
We have a coffee shop in town that serves the best frozen hot chocolate, but this recipe does just fine in a pinch. Bonus: Frozen hot chocolate? New item to add to my list of oxymorons!
I’m always on the hunt for non-dessert ways to use fruits from our garden. Not that I don’t love dessert. I love, love, LOVE dessert, which is why I’m always carrying around a muffin… top. And despite having recipes for cobblers, and pies, and pastries out the wa-zoo, there’s a dearth of non-dessert options in my recipe box. Which is why I can’t wait to try this blackberry salad in a couple weeks when the berries are ripe. Do you have any non-dessert ideas for peaches? Grapes? Pears? We’re going to need them really soon!
The Mum Code. OMG! I’m dying! This is so totally right on.
And, finally, some tips for getting picky eaters to eat.
Have a great week!
